San Diego Brewery wins international recognition with six medals at 7th Annual San Diego International Beer Competition
June 13, 2013 (San Diego, California) – Ballast Point Brewing and Spirits earned six medals this past weekend at the 7th annual San Diego International Beer Competition. With these medals, Ballast Point is in the running for the Competition’s Champion Brewery and Best of Show Awards, to be announced at this year’s San Diego International Beer Fest June 21- 23 at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
Ballast Point’s Home Brew Mart location won Silver for their Navigator Dopplebock and Three Sheets Barley Wine, and earned Bronze for their Brother Levonian Saison.
Ballast Point’s Scripps Ranch Brewery took Gold medals for both Longfin Lager and Calico Amber Ale, and their Tongue Buckler Imperial Red Ale earned Silver. The Gold medal for Calico Amber Ale marks the beer’s 17th award win, making Calico Ballast Point’s most decorated beer.
“There are so many great breweries here in San Diego, which automatically raises the standard at local competitions,” said Jack White, CEO and Founder of Ballast Point. “To be able to win six medals at an International competition like this one is an honor and speaks to the quality of beer coming out of San Diego.”
Ballast Point is one of 15 San Diego breweries who earned medals in this year’s competition.
The San Diego International Beer Competition and Festival has quickly become one of the largest competitions of its kind in the country. This year the competition showcased beers from 19 countries, including 22 states in the U.S, with over 900 entries total. Festival goers will be able to sample beers from the breweries that participated in the competition during the International Beer Festival at the San Diego County Fair June 21- 23.
