  • SOUS CHEF
    SOUS CHEF, LONG BEACH, CA

    Ballast Point Brewing is looking for a professional Sous Chef to join our kitchen supervisory team, following our Executive Chef’s & General Manager’s specifications and guidelines.  The successful candidate will employ his/her culinary and managerial skills in order to play a critical role in maintaining and enhancing our customers’ satisfaction.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Help in the preparation and design of all food and menus
    • Produce high quality plates, both design and taste-wise
    • Ensure that the kitchen operates in a timely way that meets our quality standards
    • Fill in for the Executive Chef in planning and directing food preparation when necessary
    • Resourcefully solve any issues that arise and seize control of any problematic situation
    • Manage and train kitchen staff, establish working schedule and assess staff’s performance

  • FACILITIES TECHNICIAN
    FACILITIES TECHNICIAN, MIRAMAR, SAN DIEGO

    The Facilities Technician will support upgrades, expansions, and ongoing equipment maintenance. This person is expected to be self-driven and use critical thinking to help troubleshoot facility maintenance. The Facilities Technician will need to execute exemplary customer service skills in working with other departments, peers, and suppliers to complete projects. This individual will be in an industrial setting where there is machinery, loud noises, and forklifts. The Facilities Technician is expected uphold our Ballast Point standards, including but not limited to our Code of Conduct, Employee Handbook, policies and procedures, and Ballast Point’s Mission and Values.  Our Facility Technician is expected to demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills with the ability to work independently as well as with others and support the company’s preventative maintenance and continuous improvement projects.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Help ensure that needs at all facilities needs are met timely, while communicating realistic timelines to managers/supervisors at our BP facilities.
    • Ensure our breweries run at peak production with little down time, continue to upgrade our equipment to improve efficiency and utilize a work order system to identify opportunities for efficiency improvements.
    • Support implementation and optimization of a preventative maintenance program and work order system.
    • Build upon the existing efforts to make our breweries clean and well organized, including participation in the 5s program.
    • Help support maintaining a parts storage system that is clean and organized, inline with our 5s program.
    • Ensures facilities operations provide a safe work environment for employees, visitors, and customers.
    • Provide technical guidance for parts inventory management, optimizing for risks to down time and budget adherence.
    • Ability to manage time and complex deadline-driven workload; includes planning, organizing, setting reasonable priorities and good follow-through.
    • Work within time constraints to install and repair any and all equipment with little to no supervision
    • Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • High school or technical school education
    • 3-5 years of factory-related experience in a maintenance environment.
    • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
    • Manual dexterity required for operating machinery, equipment and computers

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Flexible schedule to work day, night, grave, holiday and weekend shifts and alternative work weeks
    • Previous facilities technician experience in a brewery setting
    • Additional relevant vocational course work.
    • Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional (CMRP) or Energy Professional designation
    • Have a great, positive attitude that will inspire, and reflects the values of Ballast Point Brewery.
    • Experience with continuous improvement concepts.

    Physical Requirements/Work Environment

    • Industrial facility subject to loud noises, heavy moving equipment
    • Travel as needed
    • Exposed to various weather conditions both indoors and outdoors
    • Ability to work at least 8 hours daily

    Production Employees are responsible for operating and maintaining equipment on our packaging lines, this includes manual and automated operation of high speed filling, packaging, and palletizing equipment. Employees work in an industrial setting, and will be around machinery, loud noises, and moving forklifts. Production Employees are responsible for maintaining high standards of quality in every aspect of their job. Some employees work directly with our product and will be trusted with proprietary information regarding our specifications.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Successfully operate packing equipment
    • Successfully preparing products for packaging
    • Preserving the Ballast Point quality standards
    • Maintaining a clean and safe work environment following OSHA and company guidelines
    • Ability to follow-instructions and meet business needs based on daily goal changes when necessary
    • Perform minor preventative and appropriate maintenance on all machinery concerning quality, safety,
    • waste monitoring, training records, and other related maintenance as necessary

    Key Qualifications:

    • Flexible schedule to work day, night, grave, holiday and weekend shifts
    • Experience with kegging, bottling or canning lines
    • Ability to lift 50+ pounds
    • Ability to work at least 8 hours
    • Strong oral and written communication skills and the ability to work independently as well as with others

  • WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT
    WAREHOUSE ASSISTANT, MIRAMAR, SAN DIEGO

    Ballast Point is currently seeking qualified candidates for various shifts at our Miramar warehouse location.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Pick, pack, and ship for delivery efficiently and according to schedule
    • Receive and put away all incoming items including finished goods, raw materials, equipment, chemicals, etc.
    • Maintain a safe, clean workplace
    • Optimize space, remove clutter
    • Variance reporting, inventory accuracy, and filing of paperwork
    • Perform duties assigned by supervisors
    • Properly communicate with all supervisors and employees via all mediums
    • Maintain FIFO method of inventory control/quality management
    • Maintain quality of product at all times
    • Report/correct any substandard quality issues

    Key Qualifications:


    • 1+ year forklift and equipment experience required
    • Champion safety in all duties and in the workplace between all employees
    • Implementation of methods, protocols, procedures, and general focus on continuous improvement required

    This position requires heavy lifting (50lb+) and work in the warehouse environment that may contain loud noises and variable temperatures. Must have a flexible schedule for our warehouse needs (all shifts, including graveyard).
